Workstation Assessments

Employers Duties
Employers have a statutory requirement to provide a safe working environment and safe working practices, and to protect the welfare of their employees. This includes protecting employees from the risks associated with computer workstations. Sitting at a computer for extended periods of time, with incorrect posture or incorrectly positioned equipment, can lead to health problems such as back pain and RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury).

The Legal Position
It is the responsibility of employers to educate employees on the usage of Display Screen Equipment (e.g. computer workstations) and also to risk assess each ‘user’, usually via a workstation assessment. If you have 5 or more employees then the findings of assessments need to be recorded.

Stress Angels DSE Services
Stress Angels offers two levels of service, both of which ensure compliance with current regulations. All assessments and seminars are carried out by fully trained chiropractors, osteopaths and physiotherapists, guaranteeing you a very high quality service. Not only are our assessors and trainers ideally placed to advise on workstation set-up and posture, but they can explore the medical side of any issues if required.

Individual VDU workstation assessments
Particularly useful for those employees already with specific complaints, and for those working at a computer for long hours. During each assessment our assessors will:

  • Study how each employee works
  • Examine the positioning of equipment and furniture
  • Make changes there and then as needed
  • Provide face-to-face training on posture, body use and ergonomics
  • Produce a summary report and recommendations for each employee

Group training seminars
Our seminars cover the key points that employees need to know about safety at their workstation and equip them with the skills needed to customise their own workstations and carry out efficient self-assessments. The seminars are very interactive and employees have the opportunity to carry out practice assessments
