massage

Massage is highly effective at reducing stress (often a powerful barrier to conception) and at promoting relaxation.

During pregnancy, massage can help to alleviate the aches and pains caused by weight and posture changes. It can also help you deal with the emotional changes taking place at this time. Postnatally, massage can assist your body in its rehabilitative efforts

Regular massage can:

  • Improve circulation
  • Reduce swelling or fluid retention
  • Support the skin as it expands
  • Relieve muscular spasm and stiffness
  • Give support, comfort and balance
  • Provide time and space for mother and child simply to ‘be’
  • Reduce emotional stress and anxiety
  • Aid deeper and easier sleep
  • Increase your energy and vitality

Varying positions are used, usually side-lying and semi-reclining. Lots of pillows are used for support and for maximum comfort. Individually selected blends of aromatherapy oils may be used to further enhance the treatment.
